Le Chateau’s Roxy Earle collection took off under the socialite's Instagram-made hashtag, #MySizeRox which served as a call-to-arms to women everywhere, inspiring them to share photos of themselves feeling empowered and confident. Some of the women who posted using this hashtag would later go on to become brand ambassadors for the collection, modeling alongside Roxy and marking a pivotal moment for the fashion industry.
Le Chateau’s Roxy Earle collection is available for pre-order now and is set to drop in-stores later in the month.
What inspired the #MySizeRox movement?
It’s something that came about by this reaction to this negative conversation that was happening about my body. Everybody was saying “Oh, you’re plus-size” and I thought, no, I’m my own person, I’m my own size and my size rocks and that’s it, end of story. Women really just embraced that and got onboard. They started posting photos of themselves when they felt comfortable in their own skin and liberated. Women were just really having these moments on Instagram. I was searching around and saw all the images of girls just feeling confident and empowered, so I knew I needed to create a collection for all of them.
What are you most excited about for the line?
I’m most excited about women being able to go into a store with their best friend and shop off the same rack. For the first time in a long time many girls are going to be able to wear a piece that they’re truly excited about, that’s stylish that they literally haven’t been able to get. We’re the first company in North America to ever do anything like this -- the same clothes, the same collection on the same rack, size 0 to 22.
Where did you look for inspiration when designing the line?
This entire collection is inspired by women who have inspired me. Each piece is named after a woman in my life who, for some reason or another, I admire or has brought me confidence. I am who I am because of the women who surround me. I am an example of what it means to be confident. I’ve gone out into the world and I've been able to make all my dreams come true through confidence. So I’m a living example of why girls need confidence. That’s my dream -- through my clothes and through my fashion I can make girls feel better about themselves.
How has social media influenced your line?
Social media is the reason for everything - I live for it. My instagram and my followers are why I do what I do. They’re where I find my inspiration, where I share ideas, they’re a test audience, they’re everything.
What do you envision for the future of the fashion industry?
I dream that this moment in time for me marks a change in fashion. I hope that I can be the reason, with my partner Le Chateau, that brands take notice of what we’re doing. I hope brands start changing the way that they create lines, create sizing, change the images they put into the world and change the way they perceive beauty and standards. I hope I’m the catalyst for that change.
