In the recent years, American actor and television host, Mario Lopez has added fatherhood to his list of accolades. In addition to raising two children, Dominic and Gia, Mario Lopez continues to build his empire in the entertainment industry, while documenting the trials, tribulations and joys of being a working father in his successful YouTube channel.Trend Hunter had the opportunity to speak with Mario Lopez about his career, YouTube channel, and the powerful relationship between family and food.

What was your motivation behind starting your YouTube channel?

I wanted to document home videos for the family so the kids can look back and enjoy them when they are older. Also, I wanted to give a positive look at a healthy positive faith base family.

Why is it important for you to connect with your fan base on such an intimate level?

I love my fans and want them to know me for me.

Can you speak to some of the partnerships that have come from this? Like the work you’re doing with Undeniably dairy?

We’re huge dairy lovers here at Casa Lopez so this partnership with Undeniably Dairy felt like the perfect fit. Spending meal time connecting with family is so important to me. Not only is dairy in some of the best dishes to share, but it’s also packed with nutrients our bodies need, so you know you’re gathering around something good.

What were the key takeaways from the Undeniably Dairy survey?

Something the Undeniably Dairy survey found is that more than half of Americans have a device or screen near them while they’re having a meal. Yet 85% of people believe that sharing a meal impacts trust in relationships. That feels like a bit of a disconnect to me.

What actionable steps can people take to better connect with their food sources, or to better understand where their food comes from?

Most people would agree that food connects us and it’s important to know where that food comes from. I feel good that the dairy foods I serve to my kids come from hardworking families who care about their cows, their land and their communities. When you’re buying foods like cheese, yogurt or milk, you’re supporting families near you, which helps create jobs and positively impacts thousands of communities like yours. That’s definitely something I can support.

Do you have any tips for other working parents who are struggling to balance family life and work over the holidays?

I strongly feel if you work hard, stay focused and do the right thing, the right things will happen to you and your family. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, the family loves you and they’ll understand. Balance and managing your time is key.
