Microplastic-Free Cutting Boards

Finnish company BÖNDE Board has introduced a cutting board made entirely from bio-based materials to address concerns about microplastic shedding from traditional plastic boards. The dishwasher-safe product is designed to maintain the convenience of plastic kitchen tools while preventing the release of permanent microplastic particles during food preparation.

According to the company, the board’s material is biodegradable and free from PFAS compounds, commonly known as “forever chemicals.” Traditional plastic cutting boards can gradually release microscopic plastic fragments as they are cut and washed, contributing to environmental pollution.

BÖNDE Board developed the product in response to increasing awareness of microplastic exposure in everyday household items and aims to reduce the accumulation of persistent plastic particles in kitchens and waterways.
